During my three-month Film & Video residency at Crosstown Arts (Memphis, TN), I got to give a short artist talk about past, current, and future projects.

Artist, writer, and curator Patty Gone wrote about my video Eggless on their column in The Believer, “Off Brand Video”. Check out this thoughtful article and dig into Patty’s stellar collection of moving-image art reviews here!

In early 2019, I got to sit down with Eva Woolridge of the Red Dot Campaign and chat about art, intimacy, and gxrlhood.

“We are sitting down with multi-disciplined artist Rebecca Shapass. We were lucky to have her participate in our art exhibition We Thrive, at Canal Street Market in 2018. And now we have her in studio to discuss the creative process as a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist.

Her art and image-making practice revolve around an interest in exploring femininity in all of its forms and expressions. The nature of these studies and experiments are both collective and personal, leading her work to question the place of womxn within time’s flux through the themes of sexuality, identity, and the body. Rebecca’s works manifest as diaristic and found footage films, video art, film and slide projections, multimedia works, and installations.
