Big Girls Don't Cry (2016)
Dir. Rebecca Shapass, Prod. Nathan Niamehr
Set in the 1990s, Big Girls Don’t Cry is a film about Jess, a spunky tweenaged girl who is more than happy to miss her own birthday party in order to challenge Tyler, top dog of the skate spot, to a skate off in the hope of winning equal treatment for herself and her best friend Laura, the only two female skaters in the neighborhood. On the brink of womanhood, Jess strives to define herself against the conventions of what it means to be “feminine” and discovers that this is a battle goes far beyond the skatepark.
